Sandra Bland was found dead on July 13, 2015 in a Waller County, TX jail cell by “suicide”. Why is this making news???? See for yourself…
Bland had been pulled over for a minor traffic violation on July 10, by state trooper Brian Encinia. Encinia arrested her following an escalating conflict, which was caught on audio and video recordings, and alleged that she had assaulted him. Of course, this part was not seen but heard off camera. No one really knows what transpired at that time.
On July 13, Bland was found hanging in her cell at the Waller County Jail in Texas, where she was incarcerated after allegedly assaulting an officer during a July 10 traffic stop. The 28-year-old was about to start a new job at Prairie Valley A&M University in Texas. When the Texas state trooper described Bland as hostile and combative, he was reinforcing a deeply entrenched stereotype that everyone has heard a million times-Black Women are aggressive, loud, obnoxious and, and does not like male authority.
Really? Are you kidding me? Seriously?
“Being a black person in America is very, very hard,” she said in a video posted in April. “At the moment black lives matter. They matter.”
I cannot fathom this ordeal as it is very easy to see that WE are devalued and will never receive the respect and just due that we so rightfully deserve. Black women and girls are not physically, emotionally, financially, or socially accepted anymore. If you break the black woman, you have literally broken our structure and nothing else can come from it. PERIOD.
As a black woman, I am not safe….from anyone. No one will come to my rescue. What are your thoughts?
RIP SANDRA BLAND-Our prayers are with your family in their time of need. #SandraBland #SayHerName
