Black Women Rock…and always have. Period.

I am a young black woman raising a young black girl into a productive woman. When I say it’s a daily task to make sure my daughter knows she can have the life she deserves, the love that she deserves, and the respect she deserves…it’s almost like the film “Groundhog Day”, I am constantly reliving the madness over and over again. The constant images, negativity of black women seems to be rampant. I am so upset about it because not all black women have attitudes-not all black women hate on the next woman-not all black women hate the black man! We have black women doing great things!

After the Emmys, I was very proud of what I saw-black women being genuinely happy for another sister. I saw black women being proud and being shown in a positive light! This article is to just give you a glimpse of the joy I had after witnessing the events that took place.

Viola Davis became the first African American woman to win an Emmy for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series. In her speech, she said: “The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity. You cannot win an EMMY for roles that are simply not there.”

Read these articles and let me know what you think. BLACK WOMEN ROCK. PERIOD.
